Computing Device Policy

At Axelerant, we provide you with the device we believe best supports your role, which becomes your personal device after three years of service with us.

When using your device, you are required to follow the Security Policy. We will reimburse you for anti-virus and remote management to connect and protect our customers' data securely.

We further provide distributed development environments to collaborate and work on projects, thereby avoiding local infrastructure issues that do not scale to meet today's complex application needs.

Laptops, Phones, and Tablets

Before your joining date, Axelerant will provide a pre-configured MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, phone, and tablet relevant to your role. We have standardized our hardware to be successful with minimal fuss and as part of our long-term infrastructure management and security strategy.

Repairs

Axelerant will cover 75% of repair costs. However, you should request a new device when repair costs are near or more than a new purchase.

  • You can have your device repaired at your local Apple Care centre.

  • File for expense reimbursement for the appropriate repair amount under the category BYOD & Repair.

  • When a repair hampers your work, source a rental device and apply for reimbursement.

  • For temporary device orders, contact the People Desk. Delivery typically takes two weeks.

Terms & Conditions

Computing Device falls under the Reimbursable Benefits section, as mentioned under Exceptional Situations. 

If the device is utilized within the first three years of your tenure at Axelerant and you decide to leave for reasons other than death or separation without cause, the Computing Device cost is recoverable, or the device must be returned to Axelerant. 

This condition also applies if you have received a new device after your initial three years with us and choose to initiate separation within a year of receiving this new device.

FAQ

What are the eligibility criteria regarding the number of years to be completed before anyone can opt for another device?

You can request a new device at any time. Simply submit your request through the People Service Desk, and we will review it in consultation with your career manager.

Can I opt for any other devices than those recommended by Axelerant?

Yes, you are welcome to choose an alternative device should you feel the need. However, it’s important that any such request is in line with your work responsibilities and requirements. Additionally, adherence to our Security Policy is a must in this process. Please be aware that Axelerant will not cover the cost of this alternate device. This approach ensures that while you can select a device that suits your needs, it also aligns with our commitment to security and budget mindfulness.

Why do we have such a long delivery timeline of 4 weeks?

The MacBook Pro we recommend is tailored to your needs, which means it requires time for customization. The four-week period ensures your specifications are met accurately.

Is there a limit to the number of devices covered by the Computing Device policy?

There is no fixed limit on the number of devices. Approval from your career manager is necessary for additional devices to ensure they are essential for your work.

Since I got my device through the BYOD policy and paid 25% of the cost, does this mean it’s not mine until I complete three years at Axelerant?

If you joined before April 2024 and paid 25%, the device will be yours after one year with Axelerant, per the BYOD policy applicable at the time of purchase.
